Frequently Asked Questions.

We offer a range of design services to suit your needs - from full bespoke design projects to colour consultancy and finishing touches. We also offer remote design support, and our House Call service: a focused 2-hour session, available in person for homes in Surrey and London, or via video call for anywhere further afield.
-
This depends on the service and scope of your project. For bespoke design projects, timelines vary depending on the brief, scope and size of the space - but we work to keep momentum throughout, so you receive a complete, cohesive design without unnecessary delays. Our remote design service takes 4 weeks from start to finish, while a The House Call (2 hours) or Colour Consultancy (1.5 hours) can be booked in as a single session.
-
We're based in the Surrey Hills and work in person with clients across Surrey, London and the South West. For homes further afield, we offer our House Call service, as well as remote design support - so wherever you're based, we can help bring your project to life.
-
You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly - usually within one business day.

Every bespoke project is different, so we don't work to a one-size-fits-all price list. Your initial consultation is free, giving us a chance to understand your project before anything is agreed. After this, we send a detailed design proposal with a clear quote, covering design fees - any sourcing or trade costs are outlined separately.
For our fixed-format services: Colour Consultancy and The House Call start from £200 to £250 per session.
We're always happy to discuss budget openly at your consultation. -
Your first consultation takes place over video call, at a time that suits you. It's an opportunity for us to get to know you, your project, and how you live - from the way your household moves through the day to the details that matter most to you. We'll talk through your space, your goals for the project, and any early ideas or inspiration you have, as well as practical considerations like scope, timeline, and budget. It's a relaxed, no-obligation conversation - there's nothing to prepare, just come ready to talk about your home.

There are many talented designers out there, so it's less about being different for its own sake and more about how we work. When you work with Coan, you work directly with Claire - from your first consultation through to the final details, there's no handing off to a junior designer. Claire brings a breadth of experience from a career spanning retail design, visual merchandising and international brand projects, alongside her formal design training - a perspective that shapes how she approaches every space. But most of all, she genuinely loves this work: seeing the difference a well-designed home can make to the way a family lives is what drives every project, not just the finished look.
